Mini Skateboards, Tiny Deck, Big Fun!
by Matt Ambrose
When the craze first broke out in 1970s California, Skateboarders were seen as irresponsible young teenagers who broke into gardens to skate in empty swimming pools and would run into shoppers in malls. Well, now this extreme urban sport is very much a mainstream activity with supervised, purpose built skate parks sprouting all over the country. Skateboarding is great exercise, takes skill and determination to perfect and with the mini trick skateboard your child has a great way of getting involved.
The mini trick skateboard is smaller and more lightweight than a traditional board. This makes it easier to push, keep your balance and control your direction. It's designed to be a introductory board for beginners, and a safe way to get familiar with the sport.
Every parent understands the importance of exercise and fresh air for their child's growth. Skateboarding is a great way for them to stretch their limbs and keep healthy, whilst having a lot of fun at the same time. When they're practicing in the skate park they'll also be developing their social skills by interacting with other skateboarders and learning new moves.
Not every child enjoys team sports. But with skateboarding, your child can gain the same sense of achievement from the skill and determination needed to learn new tricks, and it'll boost their self esteem as well.
The mini trick skateboard might be small, but it's still capable of pulling off the same tricks and moves as the bigger boards. When your child starts off they'll firstly need to grasp the basics of being able to push off, balance and direct the board with their body.
Once they're happily gliding around they can start to develop some of the more advanced moves:
- Ollie - press on the back of the board before jumping up with both feet and the board should jump at the same time to appear as though it's sticking to your feet.
- Heel Flip - press on the side of the board and then jump up with both feet to make the board spin in the air. Time your jump to land back on the board when it has completed a full 360 degree spin and the wheels are back on the ground.
- Aerial - when you jump off a ramp hold onto the board with one hand whilst in the air so you can land back on it safely when you return to the ground.
Most children have probably heard of Tony Hawks, and many will have played his popular video game. With the mini trick skateboard you can encourage your kids to put down their video game controller and try the sport for themselves.
Skateboarding is great exercise, a goal driven hobby and a lot of fun. With the mini trick skateboard your child could soon be on their way to eventually getting a video game of their own.
